MPHO MATSEBA TAKES THE HELM AT FUSO

For a brand with deep roots in the commercial vehicle space, continuity matters. Customers who depend on trucks every day do not only buy a badge; they buy trust, support, uptime, and the confidence that the people behind the product understand their business.

That is why Daimler Truck Southern Africa’s latest announcement carries weight. The company has confirmed the appointment of Mpho Matseba as Head of FUSO Trucks Southern Africa, effective 1 April 2026, marking a new chapter for one of the region’s familiar truck brands.

A LEADERSHIP MOVE BUILT ON CONTINUITY

Matseba steps into the role after serving as Head of FUSO Sales from August 2024 to March 2026. During that time, she played a key role in strengthening FUSO’s commercial performance, building closer relationships with customers and dealers, and reinforcing a customer-focused approach across the Southern African market.

Her appointment is not a sudden change of direction, but a continuation of work already in motion. Having been close to the sales environment, dealer network and customer base, Matseba brings experience, familiarity and strong market understanding to the position. In a sector where relationships and operational confidence are critical, that matters.

TAKING CHARGE OF THE FUSO VALUE CHAIN

In her new role, Matseba will lead the fully dedicated FUSO Trucks division locally. Her responsibilities include overall strategy, sales and marketing operations, customer experience, parts and after-sales support, supply chain management, and the wider value chain offering.

It is a wide brief, but one that reflects the realities of the truck business. For operators, the purchase is only the beginning. The real test sits in the support that follows, the availability of parts, the strength of the dealer network and the ability to keep vehicles working where they are needed most.

With a 21-year career at Daimler Truck, Matseba brings strong institutional knowledge to the position. Her experience across FUSO and the wider Daimler Truck business gives her a practical understanding of the brand, its customers and the Southern African operating environment.

FUSO REMAINS FIRMLY WITHIN DTSA LOCALLY

The appointment also comes at an important time for the FUSO brand globally. From 1 April 2026, Daimler Truck AG and Toyota Motor Corporation will integrate Hino Motors, Ltd. and Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation under a newly established holding company, ARCHION Group.

While this marks a major global development, DTSA has reassured the local market that FUSO remains an integral partner of Truck Southern Africa. Locally, business continues as usual. There are no changes to operations, dealer networks or after-sales support in South Africa and cross-border markets.

For customers, that confirmation is important. It means the same trusted teams, systems and support structures remain in place, allowing operators to continue with confidence while the global brand landscape evolves.

A CUSTOMER FIRST APPROACH

Commenting on her appointment, Matseba said she was honoured to lead a brand with such a strong legacy in both the local and cross-border markets.

“I am honoured to be entrusted with the role of Head of FUSO Trucks Southern Africa and grateful for the opportunity to lead a brand with such a strong legacy in both the local and cross-border markets. Having worked closely with our customers and dealer network in my previous role, I look forward to building on this foundation and continuing to drive a customer-first approach. FUSO remains a key part of DTSA, and our commitment to our customers in Southern Africa remains unwavering.”

Maretha Gerber, President and Group CEO of Daimler Truck Southern Africa, welcomed the appointment, noting Matseba’s strong leadership, commercial insight and commitment to customers.

“Mpho has consistently demonstrated strong leadership, deep commercial insight, and a clear commitment to our customers-first in her role as Head of Marketing and most recently as Head of FUSO Sales. Her appointment ensures continuity and stability for the FUSO business in Southern Africa and positions the brand for sustained success under the DTSA umbrella.”

LAST WORD

Mpho Matseba’s appointment as Head of FUSO Trucks Southern Africa represents more than a leadership change. It reinforces continuity for a brand that continues to play an important role in the commercial vehicle sector across South Africa and beyond

With her sales background, customer understanding and long-standing experience within the Daimler Truck organisation, Matseba steps into the role at a time when clarity and confidence are essential. For FUSO customers, the key message is simple: the brand remains firmly supported under the DTSA umbrella, and business continues as usual.
