LAMBORGHINI TEMERARIO

Lamborghini has never been one for half measures, and with the introduction of the Temerario, it has once again redefined the boundaries of performance, design, and hybrid innovation.

Unveiled as a pre-production prototype at Kyalami International Grand Prix Circuit last month, this supercar marks the successor to the Huracán and completes the electrification of Lamborghini’s core line-up. But don’t mistake this for a quiet, efficiency-first hybrid – the Temerario is engineered for pure, unrelenting performance.

ELECTRIFIED FURY

At the heart of the Temerario lies an all-new 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8, an engine designed from the ground up in Sant’Agata Bolognese. It revs to an astonishing 10,000 rpm, delivering a peak output of 800 CV (588 kW) between 9,000 and 9,750 rpm and 730 Nm of torque from 4,000 to 7,000 rpm. But the real game-changer is its hybrid configuration. Three electric motors – one positioned between the V8 and the eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, and two driving the front wheels – push total system output to a staggering 920 CV (676 kW). The result? Zero to 100 km/h in just 2.7 seconds and a top speed beyond 340 km/h.

The twin-turbo V8 features a flat-plane crankshaft, lightweight titanium connecting rods, and high-pressure direct injection, creating a soundtrack that is unmistakably Lamborghini. The two massive turbochargers, nestled within the 90-degree “Hot V” layout, deliver razor-sharp throttle response and relentless acceleration.

While outright performance is the focus, Lamborghini has taken a sophisticated approach to hybridisation. The 3.8 kWh lithium-ion battery is housed in the central tunnel, ensuring optimal weight distribution and a low centre of gravity. The Temerario can also operate in an all-electric mode for short distances – perfect for silent departures from residential areas before unleashing its fury on open roads. The hybrid system allows for regenerative braking, torque vectoring, and seamless power delivery, ensuring that this isn’t just a fast car, but an intelligent one.

FORM FOLLOWING FUNCTION

The Temerario is a visual statement of speed, aggression, and aerodynamic efficiency. The exterior maintains Lamborghini’s signature wedge-like silhouette but refines it with active aero elements that contribute to a 103% increase in rear downforce compared to the Huracán EVO. Y-shaped LED signatures, enormous air intakes, and a shark-nose front end ensure that it looks as fast as it is.

One of the most striking features is the exposed V8, showcased beneath a hexagonal engine cover that pays homage to Lamborghini’s design DNA. The rear end is dominated by an enormous hexagonal exhaust outlet, flanked by an aerodynamically optimised diffuser.

RACE-INSPIRED LUXURY

Lamborghini has taken its “Feel Like a Pilot” philosophy to the next level inside the Temerario. The cockpit is a blend of advanced digital interfaces and lightweight materials. A 12.3″ digital cluster, an 8.4″ central display, and a 9.1″ passenger-side screen create a high-tech driver environment, with intuitive controls designed for maximum usability at high speeds.

A new multifunctional steering wheel incorporates rotary selectors for drive modes, including Strada, Sport, and Corsa, as well as hybrid-specific settings: Recharge, Hybrid, and Performance. For those who enjoy pushing the limits, there’s even a Drift Mode.

The seats, available in comfort or racing-spec configurations, offer an ideal balance of support and long-distance usability. High-quality materials such as carbon fibre, Alcantara, and Lamborghini’s new sustainable Corsatex microfibre upholstery enhance the premium feel.

TRACK-FOCUSED YET ROAD-READY

Lamborghini’s engineers have ensured that the Temerario is as rewarding on a winding mountain pass as on a racetrack. The combination of an advanced e-AWD system, torque vectoring, and an optimised weight balance delivers sharp, precise handling. The new double-wishbone suspension and rear-wheel steering further enhance agility, while the CCB Plus braking system, featuring massive 410 mm front and 390 mm rear carbon-ceramic discs, provides immense stopping power.

Bridgestone Potenza Sport tyres, developed specifically for the Temerario, ensure grip in all conditions, while a track-focused Potenza Race option is available for maximum performance.

LAST WORD

The Lamborghini Temerario is more than just the next Huracán; it represents a paradigm shift for the brand. Its hybrid powertrain, cutting-edge aerodynamics, and next-generation cockpit prove that electrification and performance are not mutually exclusive. Lamborghini has built a supercar that doesn’t just follow tradition but forges a new path forward, blending high-revving excitement with modern hybrid innovation that is available to order from Lamborghini South Africa starting from R7,525,000.
