LIVING WITH TITANIUM CONFIDENCE

FORD TERRITORY TITANIUM 1.8L ECOBOOST 7AT

By the fourth month, something interesting happens with a long-term test car. The novelty fades, the curiosity settles, and what remains is the truth of whether it genuinely fits into your life, or not. With Red Velvet, our Ford Territory Titanium 1.8L EcoBoost, that truth has been quietly reassuring. It no longer feels like a guest in the garage but part of the family rhythm, almost invisible in how seamlessly she slots into every kind of day.

Over the course of four months with our long-term Ford Territory Titanium, “Red Velvet” has been more than just a school run specialist. A recent spur-of-the-moment weekend away saw us also cram the boot with bags, snacks, and camping gear, yet there was still space for a last-minute soccer ball or two. Loading is simple, space is generous, and perhaps best of all, the kids still fight over who gets the reclining back seats. It is proof that small comforts can make even long drives more manageable.

Up front, the supportive seats and climate control have made traffic jams bearable, while the quietness of the cabin has turned countless late-evening drives, with the sliding panoramic sunroof open, into open-air adventures. It is here that the Territory feels at its best, calm, collected, and just easy to live with.

SMOOTH OPERATOR

Four months in, the 1.8-litre EcoBoost engine has become an old friend. There is enough punch to overtake when necessary, yet it never feels flustered in stop-start traffic. The seven-speed automatic has done the job seamlessly every day, rarely drawing attention to itself. That is precisely what you want in a family SUV.

Fuel consumption has steadied at an average of 9.3 l/100 km. Given how much of Red Velvet’s life is spent weaving between school, shopping, and sports practice, that figure feels fair. Longer highway stints bring it down noticeably, too.
One of the real joys of longer-term use is noticing how technology blends into routine. Ford’s Co-Pilot360 safety suite is now so much a part of my driving that I no longer think about it, until I hop into another car and miss it. Adaptive Cruise Control on the highway, the 360-degree camera in parking lots, and Blind Spot Monitoring in peak traffic all add up to a sense of calm that lingers long after the drive.

It is not tech that shouts, but tech that works with you. And that, I have learned, is what gives the Territory its long-term appeal.

UNDERSTATED STYLING

Ford’s introduction of the Titanium Dark Edition this past month brought with it plenty of showroom buzz. It looks sharper, bolder, and aimed at younger buyers who want a little more edge. Yet every time I see Red Velvet’s Ruby Red paint catching the afternoon light, I am reminded that elegance often outlasts trends. She may not wear the darker detailing, but her warmth and presence still turn heads.

LAST WORD

Spending this amount of time with Red Velvet as part of the family has shown me that driving is not about quick thrills or headline-grabbing moments. It’s about trust, about easing the load of family life, and about being there without fuss. That is what makes Red Velvet a proper family SUV – one you don’t just drive, but one you live with.

And just like me, she carries her Titanium with quiet strength. After a nasty fall during a neighbourhood soccer game, I now have a titanium plate in my right arm. It does not shout for attention, but it gives me the confidence to get back up and keep moving. Red Velvet does the same, steady, dependable, and stronger for it.
