McLAREN 570S GOES ON A DIET

British supercar maker, McLaren has announced that 570S Spider buyers can now specify their vehicles with a slimming ‘Track Pack’ option. According to McLaren, the R290,000 Track Pack will offer both practical and visual features that are perfectly suited to circuit use, without compromising daily usability.

In the case of the 570S Spider, less seems to be more as the track-oriented specification sheds around 33 kg of portliness, making the Spider more dynamically sound.

STYLE MEETS ATHLETICISM

On the inside, it is not all brawn, and no flair since customers can still take their pick from a palette of six By McLaren Designer Interior Sport Design themes. To complement the sporty theme, the standard sports seats are exchanged for carbon fibre racing seats that will lower the scale digits by around 13 kg.

There are more carbon fibre bits and bobs found around the rest of the cabin too. The door inserts, tunnel sides, steering wheel spokes, and centre console switch-panel is finished in this lightweight material.

MORE FLAIR, LESS WEIGHT

On the exterior-front, the new ‘super-lightweight’ 10-spoke alloy wheels are wrapped in Pirelli’s P-ZERO Corsa tyres, not only adding visual flair and increased responsiveness, but also saving 15 kg of weight compared to the standard wheels.

It will even sound the part of an angry McLaren as an adapted – and slightly less weighty – exhaust system is fitted to ensure the supercar can produce the necessary decibels to match its aggressive styling.

THE SAME WINNING RECIPE

According to the Executive Director of McLaren’s Global Sales and Marketing department, Jolyon Nash, the 570S Spider has already gained a reputation as an extremely enjoyable sports car for the track.

“This new Track Pack encapsulates design features, specification and popular practical options that are desirable for track use, expanding the choice for Spider buyers and at the same time, it offers them even better value,” he explained.
